Why do teeth become crooked?
Here are some common causes of why our teeth can become crooked.
Thumb Sucking
Thumb sucking puts pressure on your teeth forcing them to move into different positions. When this occurs, the most common result is an open bite where you will have a gap between your upper and lower teeth causing them to not bite together.
Age
As we get older our teeth can drift forward and become crowded as your jaw bone looses density.
Missing Teeth
The position of the teeth around a gap where a missing tooth used to be can cause them to drift towards the open spaces.
Inherited or Genetics
Parents with crooked teeth are more likely to have children with crooked teeth.
Poorly executed Dental Restorations
Poor fitting or executed restorations like fillings and crowns can cause teeth to become crooked.
